AB Texel Group specialises in the transport of potatoes and other agricultural products, flour, animal feed, liquid dairy, and refrigerated food products. The company operates across large areas of Europe and has offices in the Netherlands (including Heerenveen), Belgium, Germany, the UK, and France. AB Texel Group's ambition is to grow and develop in line with its clients. To facilitate this growth, the logistics service provider has purchased a plot of over six hectares at the International Business Park Friesland in Heerenveen, close to the A7 and A32 motorways. The site will have space for offices, the expansion of storage and transhipment activities, and parking for trucks and trailers. AB Transport Group, which includes Combex Bouwlogistiek and Driessen Speciaaltransport in addition to AB Texel Group, currently operates a fleet of more than 1,400 trucks and 2,300 trailers. There are also some 200 charters that drive for the transport group.

Mayor Tjeerd van der Zwan: "We're delighted that AB Texel Group has chosen Heerenveen as its operating base for the company's further growth. Logistics is an important sector for Heerenveen, and we're pleased to be able to facilitate this great company at the International Business Park Friesland (IBF). This will further strengthen Heerenveen's position as the logistics hub of the North."

Dennis Wetenkamp, CEO of AB Texel Group: "We have a dense network in the north of the Netherlands, and we're happy that we have been able to acquire a large industrial site in a great location in this region to use as a base to facilitate the expansion of our activities. A large number of our drivers live in the North, and we have various clients located here. We work hard 24/7 to take our clients' worries off their hands in all aspects of the logistics process. We're committed to this and we have a local mindset, with parking locations and branches nearby our clients."
