Ecotrans hands over Food activities to AB Transport Group
AB Transport Group will be taking over Ecotrans' Food transport activities as of 1 May 2017. The acquisition means that AB Transport Group is further expanding its Food transport network, while giving Ecotrans the opportunity to increase efficiency and respond even more effectively to developments in the agricultural bulk sector.
In 2015 Ecotrans took over the activities of JCL Heerenveen. As a result, various Food-related clients have been integrated into the Ecotrans organisation. In order to be able to continue to respond to developments in the agricultural sector and to continue to meet the needs of Ecotrans’ customers, Ecotrans made the decision to divest the Food-related activities and focus entirely on Agri Feed as its core business. This means that as of 1 May 2017, the collaboration with the Food clients will be transferred to AB Transport Group. Those Ecotrans employees that are currently involved with these activities are all aware of this development and remain assured of employment.
Roel den Hollander, general manager of Ecotrans: "Transferring these activities that fall outside the scope of our business means that Ecotrans can focus fully on its core activities, particularly compound feed. AB Transport Group has indicated that it wants to grow in this branch and is therefore the party that we want to take these valued customers into the future."
Dennis Wetenkamp, director of AB Transport Group, adds: "The work that we're taking on is an excellent fit with our existing activities in the Food sector. Our motivated staff and modern vehicle fleet of about 1,000 trucks give us many different ways to meet the clients' needs. We specialise in the transport of bulk agricultural products, refrigerated food products, flour, animal feed and liquid dairy. This new work is a good fit with our specialties."
