AB Texel Group acquires Van Wieren International
Logistics service provider AB Texel Group will take over transport company Van Wieren International as of 1 November 2020. With this takeover, the company strengthens its activities in refrigerated and seed potato transport. The acquisition is in line with AB Texel Group's strategy to grow alongside its clients in the provision of services.
Van Wieren International specialises in groupage transport to and from Italy. The company mainly transports fresh and frozen products to Italy and uses refrigerated trailers for this purpose.
In addition to coolers, Van Wieren also uses curtainsider trailers for the transport of potatoes to Dutch ports for worldwide shipping.
AB Texel Group also specialises in the transport of potatoes and chilled food products. The company also transports animal feed, flour and (liquid) dairy.
Peter van Wieren, director and owner of Van Wieren International: “I have taken this step with a view to continuing to serve our customers in a highly competitive market in the long term and to guarantee continuity for our employees. We, our employees and myself, will continue to work for our clients within AB Texel Group. AB Texel Group and Van Wieren International partly serve the same clients. Both companies highly value quality and take good care of their employees."
Dennis Wetenkamp, director of AB Texel Group, adds: “At AB Texel Group, we are committed to further development of seed potato transport. Refrigerated transport is a growth market for us as well. The takeover of Van Wieren International fits in seamlessly with this. We also see the same down-to-earth mentality and drive we have at AB Texel Group in Van Wieren International. We have great confidence in a good cooperation."
